History of the Opera House - Built for W.K. Ray in 1897. The San Saba News occupied the upstairs of the building from 1898 until 1904. For a time, it was home to the Queen Hotel. The Alpha Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows purchased it in 1917. The lodge occupied the second floor while the first floor was leased to various businesses, one in particular, known as Community Appliances. (History provided by the San Saba Historical Commission.)
